Mitsui Picks Up Stake In GDF Suez's Aussie Power Assets

Law360, New York (October 8, 2013, 2:14 PM EDT) -- French utility company GDF Suez SA has sold 28 percent of its Australian energy subsidiary, spread across five assets, to Mitsui & Co. Ltd., the companies announced Tuesday.

International Power (Australia) Holdings Pty Ltd.'s assets include Canunda, a 46-megawatt wind farm; Hazelwood, a 1,542-megawatt coal station; Pelican point, a 478-megawatt gas station; and Synergen, a 396-megawatt gas peaking plant. Mitsui also picked up power and gas retail business Simply Energy, which has about 350,000 customers, the companies said.
