EU Trade Chief Blasts Russian Ban On Lithuanian Imports

Law360, New York (October 9, 2013, 4:19 PM EDT) -- The European Union's top trade official on Tuesday blasted a series of recent policy decisions from the Russian government that have hindered the flow of Lithuanian goods into the country, including an outright ban on certain dairy products.

EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht said Lithuania has complained that some of its cargo shipments to Russia have been subjected to more arduous inspection from importing authorities since Sept. 11 and that Russia more recently closed its doors to Lithuanian dairy products due to unspecified health concerns....
