NJ Justice Says Goodbye To The Bench, Avoids Politicking

Law360, New York (October 8, 2013, 7:54 PM EDT) -- New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Helen Hoens on Tuesday refused to wade into the politics behind Gov. Chris Christie's controversial decision not to renominate her for tenure, instead offering advice on patience and compassion, based on her experiences raising an autistic son.

The justice was speaking before her last oral arguments with the court. With Hoens' seven-year term expiring on Oct. 26, Christie passed on renominating the fellow Republican and instead tapped Camden County Superior Court Judge Faustino Fernandez-Vina for the seat.
