AstraZeneca To Appeal $215M Drug Pricing Verdict

Law360, New York (February 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP has vowed to appeal a verdict handed down by an Alabama jury Thursday that ordered the drug company to pay $215 million in damages for allegedly overcharging Medicaid for its drugs.

Alabama Attorney General Troy King filed the suit against more than 70 drug companies in 2005 in Montgomery County Circuit Court, alleging that the companies massively overcharged the Alabama Medicaid Agency for prescription drugs by fraudulently inflating the reported prices of the medications.
