Alcan Tie-In Deal Violates Antitrust Laws: EU

Law360, New York (February 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The European Commission on Friday charged Canadian aluminum producer Alcan Inc. with violations of the bloc's antitrust laws for allegedly writing up buyer contracts that bundle its handling equipment with its smelting technology.

The commission said it sent Alcan on Thursday a statement of objections, the first step in the EC's antitrust investigations.
