Fed. Courts To Close, Shrink 31 Facilities Amid Sequester Cuts

Law360, New York (October 16, 2013, 5:12 PM EDT) -- With the federal court system under severe sequestration funding cuts, federal court administration have finalized plans to downsize or close more than two dozen court facilities in an ongoing rent-saving initiative, federal court administrators announced Tuesday.

The space reduction program, which gives financial incentives to district courts to turn over unused leased space to the General Services Administration, the federal government landlord, was approved by the court’s policy-making body two years ago.
