Vivendi Loses Bid To Force Orange Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (October 16, 2013, 6:20 PM EDT) -- A European Union court on Wednesday rejected Vivendi's bid to force the European Commission to investigate its antitrust complaint over Orange SA's pricing policies for wholesale telecommunication services.

The EU's General Court concluded that the EC was within its discretion to refuse to investigate Orange, formerly known as France Telecom SA, over its wholesale pricing practices for high-speed Internet and telephone service because those offerings had only a limited impact on the broader retail telecommunications markets in France.
