Cruz Holds Up Confirmation Of FCC Chairman In Senate

Law360, Los Angeles (October 17, 2013, 11:08 PM EDT) -- Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, won't allow confirmation of President Barack Obama's nominee for chair of the Federal Communications Commission until the nominee explains whether he will enforce elements of a defeated piece of campaign-spending legislation while in office.

Former telecommunications lobbyist Tom Wheeler will have to answer questions from Cruz about his stance on the defeated DISCLOSE Act, a Democrat-sponsored bill that aimed to require the sponsors of election ads to disclose their identities, among other election spending disclosure regulations, the senator said Thursday.
