US Liquidity Rules Likely To Be Harsher Than Global Regs

Law360, New York (October 18, 2013, 6:58 PM EDT) -- With U.S. banking regulators poised to release their proposals for implementing international liquidity guidelines, observers expect the plan to have more bite than other countries' given the tough U.S. approach to bank capital and leverage regulations.

The Federal Reserve on Thursday announced that it would release its proposal for mandatory liquidity levels at U.S. banks at an open meeting on Oct. 24. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency are expected to follow soon after.
