Sierra Club Sues EPA To Clean Up 7 Pa. Coal Plants

Law360, Philadelphia (October 21, 2013, 3:38 PM EDT) -- The Sierra Club sued the Environmental Protection Agency in Pennsylvania federal court on Friday over its lack of response to earlier petitions attacking air pollution stemming from seven of the state’s coal burning power plants.

The environmental group accused the EPA of failing to grant or deny the seven petitions, two of which address plants that closed earlier this month. The petitions asked the EPA to object to permits granted by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to the facilities.
