With Gov't Shutdown Over, Stay Lifted In Exxon Spill Suit

Law360, New York (October 21, 2013, 7:15 PM EDT) -- An Arkansas federal judge on Monday granted a request by federal prosecutors to lift a stay on proceedings in the U.S. government's multimillion-dollar oil spill suit against Exxon Mobil Corp. now that the government shutdown has ended.

U.S. District Judge James M. Moody halted the case on Oct. 10 after U.S. Department of Justice attorneys said they had only been able to work on it on a volunteer basis because of the lack of funding and argued that it shouldn't proceed until the shutdown was resolved....
