FTC's Brill Urges Data Brokers To Build On Acxiom's Effort

By Allison Grande (October 23, 2013, 7:25 PM EDT) -- Federal Trade Commissioner Julie Brill on Wednesday praised Acxiom Corp. for its recent effort to open up its dossiers, but cautioned that the action was only a starting point and that the data broker industry needs to do more to restore consumers' control over their personal information.

During a privacy lecture sponsored by the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, Brill continued her push for the industry and others to support her Reclaim Your Name initiative, which she floated in June as a means for data brokers to be more transparent about what information they hold and how they use it....
