French Cos. Can't Shield Info From UK Antitrust Suits

Law360, New York (October 23, 2013, 5:19 PM EDT) -- A U.K. appeals court refused Tuesday to overturn orders requiring French companies Alstom SA, Areva SA and Servier SAS to disclose information in private antitrust damages suits despite their claims that complying would put them at risk of prosecution under France’s discovery-blocking statute.

The England and Wales Court of Appeal upheld judgments ordering the two energy equipment makers and the pharmaceutical manufacturer to provide documents sought by National Grid Electricity Transmission PLC and the U.K.'s secretary of health, respectively.
