EPA Touts Drop In GHG Emissions Amid High Court Review

Law360, New York (October 23, 2013, 4:11 PM EDT) -- On the heels of a U.S. Supreme Court decision to review the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's authority to regulate greenhouse gases, the agency said Wednesday that reported emissions decreased by 4.5 percent from 2011 to 2012, which it credited to utilities switching to cleaner-burning natural gas.

This was the EPA's third annual release of greenhouse gas data detailing carbon pollution emissions and trends broken down by industrial sector, greenhouse gas, geographic region and individual facility. It said power plants accounted for about 40 percent of U.S....
