FDA Panel Chair Targeted Over Advice To Drug Cos.

Law360, New York (October 24, 2013, 7:44 PM EDT) -- Consumer group Public Citizen on Thursday urged a U.S. Food and Drug Administration advisory committee chairwoman to cancel a speaking engagement aimed at advising pharmaceutical companies, a request that seemed likely to be granted after she chastised event organizers for promoting her appearance excessively.

In a letter to FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg, the group criticized a scheduled appearance by Lynn Drake, head of a committee on skin and eye drugs, at a February conference called Summit on FDA Advisory Committee Prep.
