Hip Implant Recall Costs Could Top $1B, Stryker Says

Law360, New York (October 25, 2013, 4:45 PM EDT) -- Stryker Corp. predicted Wednesday that it would cost up to $1.1 billion to settle personal injury litigation related to and otherwise pay for last year's recall of two metal hip implants, nearly double the company's previous estimate.

The total costs related to the company's recall of its Rejuvenate and ABG II modular-neck stems are estimated to be $700 million to $1.13 billion, not including potential third-party insurance recoveries, Stryker said in a securities filing.
