BOEM Offers 39M Gulf Acres In Next Drilling Lease Sale

Law360, New York (October 25, 2013, 5:31 PM EDT) -- The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management said Friday it would offer 39 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico off the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama for oil and gas drilling next March, the fourth auction under the government's five-year offshore leasing program.

The BOEM said on March 19, 2014, it would auction off leases for all available unleased areas in its Gulf of Mexico Central Planning Area, which encompasses more than 7,500 blocks covering approximately 39.4 million acres in the Gulf. The blocks are...
