ACA Exchanges On Mend After New Glitch Hobbles Enrollment

Law360, New York (October 28, 2013, 5:31 PM EDT) -- The Obama administration was recovering Monday from the latest technical snag to hobble the Affordable Care Act’s online health insurance marketplaces, this one a devastating connectivity failure that crippled enrollment across the country.

Federal officials blamed the embarrassing shutdown on Verizon Terremark, a unit of Verizon Communications Inc. that supplies the data center used to host two of the exchanges’ essential features. One is a data hub that verifies income and citizenship, and the other is HealthCare.gov — the portal for three dozen federal exchanges....
