Mainstream Awarded $910M South African Wind Farm Deal

Law360, New York (October 29, 2013, 2:43 PM EDT) -- South African energy officials have tapped a group led by Irish wind and solar developer Mainstream Renewable Power Ltd. to build three large-scale wind farms that will generate 360 megawatts of power, projects worth 9 billion South African rand ($912 million), Mainstream said Tuesday.

Mainstream said South Africa’s Department of Energy determined that a consortium it led is the preferred bidder for the wind farms in the country’s Northern Cape, projects awarded under the third round of the country’s renewable energy procurement program.
