Ex-Sidley Atty Suspended For 1 Year For Billing Rides

Law360, New York (October 30, 2013, 1:44 PM EDT) -- A New York appeals court on Tuesday suspended a Withers Bergman art attorney from practicing law in the state for one year for improperly charging about $50,000 in car service rides to clients at his former firm Sidley Austin.

The New York Appellate Division’s Departmental Disciplinary Committee for the First Judicial Department disagreed with a hearing panel’s recommendation to bar Ralph E. Lerner for six months, saying the lawyer’s misconduct overshadowed his professional accomplishments and evidence of character.
