CFTC Adopts Final Rule For Enhanced Customer Protections

Law360, Washington (October 30, 2013, 3:37 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Wednesday approved a final rule designed to protect customer funds from events like the collapse of MF Global Inc., while agency chairman Gary Gensler said he hoped to have a final draft of the long-anticipated Volcker rule by December.

The CFTC voted 3-1 to approve the so-called Final Rule on Enhancing Protections Afforded Customers and Customer Funds Held by Futures Commission Merchants and Derivatives Clearing Organizations. Commissioner Scott O'Malia was the lone dissenter.
