Pa. Sen. Seeks To Rein In Pro-Fracking Laws

Law360, Philadelphia (October 31, 2013, 1:07 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania state senator on Wednesday announced that he intends to introduce legislation that would eliminate many of the pro-natural gas drilling provisions implemented as part of a major 2012 law.

Sen. Jim Ferlo, D-Allegheny, said that his proposed bill would overhaul Act 13 of 2012, the law which installed impact fees for drilling and banned local governments from using zoning regulations to stop hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. The constitutionality of the zoning ban is currently being reviewed by the state’s Supreme Court.
