Fla. Trade Data Firm Sues Chinese Rival Over Piracy Scheme

Law360, Miami (October 31, 2013, 9:19 PM EDT) -- Miami-based The Datamyne Inc. filed suit Tuesday in Florida state court against the parent company of competitor Trade Navigator, saying it carried out fraudulent dealings, involving co-conspirators in China, to pirate its confidential and proprietary information and unfairly compete in the trade data marketplace.

Datamyne runs a subscription-based trade data database on the import and export of products from about 50 countries, according to the complaint. Its suit, which seeks an injunction and money damages, names Chinese company Shenzhen Ealing Euro-Asia Market Data Engineering Co. Ltd.,...
