8th Circ. Says National Union Owes Travelers $3M In Interest

Law360, New York (November 1, 2013, 4:38 PM EDT) -- The Eighth Circuit on Friday found that National Union Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, Pa., owes Travelers Property Casualty Insurance Co. of America millions in interest in a dispute over claims from a power station explosion, overturning a lower court’s ruling.

The appeals court in 2010 found that Travelers had paid $10 million to settle claims on an excess policy and was entitled to receive that much from National Union, a primary insurer, which had obtained a larger judgment through subrogation litigation against a third party. Unresolved...
