Malaysia Fines Megasteel $1.4M Over Anti-Competitive Conduct

Law360, Washington (November 1, 2013, 6:52 PM EDT) -- Malaysia's antitrust regulator on Friday fined Megasteel Steel Sdn Bhd 4.5 million ringgits ($1.4 million) over its violation of the country's competition law by abusing its “dominant position” in the industry.

In a proposed decision, the Malaysia Competition Commission said Megasteel's disproportionate hot rolled coil and cold rolled coil prices created a “margin squeeze” that negatively affected their competitors.
