EPA Nixes Significant New Use Rules For Hydrocarbons

Law360, New York (November 4, 2013, 8:12 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Monday pulled back significant new use rules for three hydrocarbons, saying it has encountered opposition to proposed new regulation of the chemicals and will abandon the expedited rulemaking process in favor of the standard approach.

The three substances were among 53 chemicals subject to significant new use rules in August under the Toxic Substances Control Act, but will now have to go through a separate rulemaking because the EPA received a notice of intent to submit adverse comments, according to...
