Alaska To Sue BP Over Prudhoe Bay Spill

Law360, New York (February 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Alaskan authorities plan to bring a civil suit in the fall against BP PLC to recover damages and lost revenues that resulted from spills and subsequent plant shutdowns in 2006 at the oil giant's pipelines in western Prudhoe Bay.

The state plans to seek compensation for “several hundred million dollars” in a complicated suit to recover lost oil tax and royalty revenues, the Anchorage Daily News reported Friday, citing documents presented to Alaska's House Finance Subcommittee this week in preparation for next year's state operating budget....
