Conn.'s Tax Amnesty Gains Nearly Double Expectations

Law360, New York (November 4, 2013, 5:59 PM EST) -- A tax amnesty program in Connecticut has nearly doubled projections with $63 million collected to date, the state announced on Monday.

The Constitution State had projected $35 million to reach its coffers through a 60-day amnesty program letting individuals and businesses pay back taxes at a reduced interest rate while avoiding penalties and criminal prosecution.

But with 10 days still remaining, the state has collected nearly double that amount, Connecticut Department of Revenue Services Commissioner Kevin B. Sullivan said in a statement.
