Fla. Hospital Operator Challenges Law Increasing Oversight

Law360, Miami (November 6, 2013, 5:32 PM EST) -- The Citrus Memorial Health Foundation argued before the Florida Supreme Court on Wednesday that its contract obligations are unconstitutionally impaired by a new state law giving the Citrus County Hospital Board greater authority over the not-for-profit organization.

Since its incorporation in 1987, the foundation has administered the only public hospital in Citrus County, Fla., under an agreement with the CCHB, which is a special taxing district created by the Florida Legislature in 1949, according to case documents.
