Worker Says Fla. Sex Bias Prohibition Extends To Pregnancy

Law360, Miami (November 7, 2013, 5:14 PM EST) -- A former employee of property management company The Continental Group Inc. on Thursday asked the Florida Supreme Court to reverse the dismissal of her pregnancy discrimination suit, arguing the state's civil rights statute's sex bias prohibition extends to pregnancy discrimination.

Travis Hollifield of Hollifield Legal Centre, an attorney for former front desk manager Peguy Delva, said the discriminatory treatment his client received because of her pregnancy falls under Florida Civil Rights Act's sex discrimination provision.
