TPP A 'Pillar' Of Japan's Economic Reforms, Official Says

Law360, New York (November 6, 2013, 4:31 PM EST) -- The proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership with the U.S. and other Pacific Rim countries is a critical part of Japan's efforts to get its economy back on track, a top Japanese official said Wednesday.

Norihiko Ishiguro, the vice minister for international affairs at Japan's Ministry for Economy, Trade and Industry, described the TPP and other free trade agreements as a "main pillar" of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's efforts to return the Japanese economy to a state of steady growth.
