World Bank Commits $47M To Expand Solar Plant In Chile

Law360, New York (November 6, 2013, 6:56 PM EST) -- The World Bank's private sector investment arm will finance the $47.1 million expansion of a solar power plant in Chile in partnership with the Canadian government and German finance institution DEG, it said Wednesday.

The La Huayca plant, one of the first of its kind in Chile, is part of a group of high-wattage solar power plants in the Atacama Desert taking advantage of the region's high amount of solar radiation to produce energy while avoiding thousands of tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
