Exxon Faces $2.7M Fine For Pegasus Oil Spill

Law360, Los Angeles (November 6, 2013, 10:23 PM EST) -- U.S. regulators have found that Exxon Mobil Corp. should pay a $2.7 million fine for alleged safety violations on its 850-mile Pegasus pipeline that spilled some 19,000 barrels of oil in Mayflower, Ark., regulators said in a notice Wednesday.

The U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has accused Exxon of violating nine of its regulations, pointing to eight areas of pipe that allegedly weren’t properly maintained and claiming the company violated a rule about creating a written manual for maintenance.
