Transocean To Pay Keppel $1.1B To Build 5 Rigs

Law360, New York (November 7, 2013, 4:57 PM EST) -- Singaporean offshore company Keppel Offshore & Marine won a $1.1 billion order from Transocean Ltd. to build five oil rigs by 2017, with an option to build another five, the companies announced Thursday.

The contract brings Keppel's total number of projects this year to 20, collectively worth SG$6.4 billion ($5.15 billion). The Singaporean company will use its proprietary design in the KFELS Super B 400 Bigfoot Class rigs, designed to operate in 400 feet of water and drill down 35,000 feet.
