Venture Capital Giants Urge Congress To Get Tough On Trolls

Law360, New York (November 7, 2013, 4:46 PM EST) -- A group of venture capitalists including billionaire Mark Cuban sent a letter to Congress on Wednesday urging lawmakers to pass legislation cracking down on so-called patent trolls in order to protect startup business from frivolous lawsuits by such companies.

The investors said that "young, innovative companies are increasingly threatened" by patent trolls. The majority of lawsuits by nonpracticing entities are filed against companies with less than $10 million in revenue, which is hurting America's tech industry and national economy, they said.
