Legal Sector Shrinks Amid Growth For Most Professionals

By Andrew Strickler (November 8, 2013, 8:39 PM EST) -- The U.S. legal industry last month shed jobs while virtually every other professional services sector made gains, according to U.S. Department of Labor numbers released Friday.

The legal sector shed about 900 jobs in October after three consecutive months of growth, according to the report.

Overall, U.S. payrolls added 204,000 jobs last month. Aside from the legal industry, all but one other professional and business service sector posted gains, with management consulting and accounting showing healthy gains of more than 7,000 jobs.
