FEMA Accused Of Violating Disaster Alert System Patents

Law360, Los Angeles (November 8, 2013, 6:40 PM EST) -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency and other federal agencies are violating a Delaware company's patented disaster warning system concepts with technology they use to alert the public in emergency situations, a suit filed Friday in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims alleged.

Disaster Warning Network Inc., founded by inventor John Flanagan, claims FEMA, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration lifted his ideas from a website he launched in 1999.
