Punitive Damages Possible In Wyeth Hormone Trial

Law360, New York (March 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- After awarding an Arkansas woman $2.75 million in compensatory damages, a federal judge refused Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s bid last week to toss punitive damage claims, clearing the way for a hearing Monday in the Prempro trial.

Judge William R. Wilson Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas denied Wyeth's motion for summary judgment, stating that there were “material facts in dispute regarding defendants’ conduct.”
