Obama To Tap Ex-Cravath Partner To Lead CFTC

Law360, New York (November 12, 2013, 1:22 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama on Tuesday tapped Timothy Massad, a top official at the U.S. Department of the Treasury and former Cravath Swaine & Moore LLP partner, to take over as chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Massad, currently the assistant secretary for financial stability at the Treasury Department, would replace current CFTC Chairman Gary Gensler, who has remade the agency into one of the most aggressive financial regulators in Washington.
