SEC's White Says More Trials In Agency's Future

Law360, Washington (November 14, 2013, 8:30 PM EST) -- U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairwoman Mary Jo White said Thursday that the agency intends to pursue more of its cases to trial in future, building on its more aggressive enforcement stance since her April appointment.

White said the pursuit of more cases through to trial was a natural adjunct to the agency’s recent enforcement efforts — which she described last month as its “tough cop” stance, although she later tempered that claim slightly — such as its June decision to scale back on the use...
