FDA Calls For Antiseptic Label Changes To Limit Risk

Law360, New York (November 15, 2013, 2:36 PM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned Wednesday that some topical antiseptics carry a higher risk of infections arising from user-introduced contamination, and called for changes in the labeling and packaging of these over-the-counter products that it says will minimize the risk.

In a safety warning issued Wednesday, the agency asked manufacturers to provide antiseptics used for preoperative or preinjection use in single-use containers.
