Sens. Introduce Bill To Curb Patent Troll Litigation

Law360, Washington (November 18, 2013, 8:56 PM EST) -- A bipartisan trio of senators on Monday introduced legislation designed to make it harder for so-called patent trolls to sue consumers and businesses, saying a number of “bad actors” had abused the current patent enforcement system for their own gain.

The Patent Transparency and Improvements Act would implement a number of reforms targeted at patent trolls — also known as patent assertion entities, or nonpracticing entities — to curb suits against end users of allegedly infringing products and help small businesses and inventors defend against infringement...
