Senate GOP Blocks 3rd Obama Nominee To DC Circ.

Law360, Los Angeles (November 18, 2013, 10:22 PM EST) -- U.S. Senate Republicans on Monday blocked a vote on the confirmation of U.S. District Judge Robert L. Wilkins, a former Venable LLP partner, to the D.C. Circuit — marking the third such nomination to be blocked in as many weeks.

The Senate voted 53-38 in favor of cloture on Wilkins' nomination, short of the two-thirds threshold necessary to proceed to an up-or-down vote on his confirmation. Sens. Lisa Murkowkski, R-Alaska, and Susan Collins, R-Maine, were the only Republicans who voted in favor of advancing Wilkins' confirmation.
