Obama Threatens To Veto Fracking, Drilling Lease Bills

Law360, New York (November 19, 2013, 4:17 PM EST) -- The White House on Tuesday pledged to veto Republican-backed energy bills aimed at speeding up the oil and gas permitting process and blocking federal hydraulic fracturing regulations, which are scheduled for a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives this week.

White House statements indicated the Federal Lands Jobs and Energy Security Act, H.R. 1965, and the Protecting States' Rights to Promote Energy Security Act, H.R. 2728, won't receive the president's signature if they make it to his desk, saying the bills would sabotage environmental protection...
