Businesses Prod US House For E-Commerce Sales Tax Bill

Law360, New York (November 19, 2013, 1:53 PM EST) -- A group of small business owners on Monday prodded the chair of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee to take action before the end of the year on a proposal that would allow local governments to collect taxes on Internet sales.

The Alliance for Main Street Fairness asked Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., to draft a House version of the Marketplace Fairness Act “as soon as possible.” The U.S. Senate passed a version of the bill earlier this year, but the proposal has languished in the House for months....
