Contractor Asks Fla. Appeals Court To Revive Shipping Row

Law360, Miami (November 19, 2013, 6:33 PM EST) -- A general contractor asked a Florida appeals court Tuesday to reverse a lower court's dismissal of a suit it filed against a cargo shipping company over damaged goods, arguing that the dispute should have been decided by an arbitrator.

Miami-based Federal Contracting Inc., which does business as Bryan Construction Inc., told a three-judge Third District panel that the Florida Supreme Court has ruled that arbitrators should decide procedural issues that arise in contracts containing broad arbitration provisions.
