Majority Of US Cos. Cut Outside Legal Spending In 2013

Law360, New York (November 20, 2013, 7:52 PM EST) -- General counsels continued this year to pull more legal work in-house and cut outside spending, according to a survey released Wednesday, even as large law departments have cut attorney headcount in recent years.

Two-thirds of companies with mid-sized and small legal departments funneled more legal dollars inside this year than last, as 55 percent cut outside spending in the previous fiscal year, according to the 2013 Law Department Compensation Survey from the Association of Corporate Counsel and consultant firm Empsight International LLC.
