GOP Sounds Alarm On ACA's $2B Insurance Loans

Law360, New York (November 20, 2013, 5:39 PM EST) -- Senate Republicans on Wednesday demanded answers from the Obama administration about a $2 billion nonprofit insurance program funded under the Affordable Care Act, questioning whether experimental “co-ops” will soak taxpayers without delivering much in return.

A letter signed by five GOP lawmakers raised more than 15 questions about the implementation and future of Consumer Operated and Oriented Plans, a program that operates in two dozen states and features loans aimed at supporting consumer-friendly health benefits.
