Major Retailers Need More Guidance On Recalls, CPSC Told

Law360, Washington (November 20, 2013, 10:05 PM EST) -- Representatives for major retailers like Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Target Corp. asked the Consumer Product Safety Commission on Wednesday for clarification about their obligations during product recalls, with one urging the commission to research the actual effectiveness of its recall program.

During a public meeting at CPSC headquarters, members of the Retail Industry Leaders Association told agency officials Ray Aragon, Marc Schoem and others that they’re often left “out of the loop” when products they sell are recalled by manufacturers in concert with the agency....
