Australia, China Near Free Trade Deal, Aussie Minister Says

Law360, New York (November 22, 2013, 5:29 PM EST) -- Australia and China have laid the foundations to ink a free trade agreement in the "not-too-distant future" with the hope of reaching a deal within 12 months, Australia's trade and investment minister said Thursday.

After a meeting with Chinese Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng aimed at kick-starting once-stalled negotiations, Australian Trade and Investment Minister Andrew Robb told journalists in China that the objective remained reaching a deal within the time frame of a year.
